According to official documents, Johnny Cummings of Round Rock was arrested and charged with soliciting a minor online for sex on July 18 when he arrived at a sports field in Leander expecting to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

Police had corresponded with Cummings, 44, over a period of several weeks, during which Cummings allegedly sent numerous sexually explicit messages. According to the affidavit, Cummings admitted to sexually explicit correspondence with a person he beleived to be a 14-year-old girl.

Police also arrested 33-year-old Jason Ray Scott of Winnsboro, which is a small town located East of Dallas, on July 25 on the same charges. Police records indicate the same officers were involved in Scott’s arrest, and that the same sting operation was used to ensnare the second man. 

Scott allegedly sent a photo as well as sexually explict emails and text messages to a police officer posing as a 15-year-old boy. Scott originally responded to the officer’s fake posting on a public social networking website. The affidavit indicates that Scott also asked the person he believed to be the 15-year-old boy to send him nude pictures.

Scott, a former Round Rock resident, was arrested by Round Rock police and charged with misdemeanor harassment in 2007. Court records also show that Scott was arrested in 2009, while still residing in Round Rock, and charged with credit card abuse.

Both men were still being held in the Williamson County Jail over the weekend, Cummings on $35,000 bail and Scott on $40,000 bail.
