Having been a patient of the medical aesthetic industry herself, Dr. Claudia Legere, a family practice physician in Four Points, says she began to realize there was a need for care that could be done in-home and could accommodate busy schedules.
The aesthetics industry, which includes anti-aging treatments, has continued to grow in popularity. As the mom of two young children, Legere said it was hard to find the time to schedule appointments, and she didn’t like having to wait in the doctor’s office before and after treatments.
Because of this, Legere decided to start her own business, Door to Door Med Spa, which opened in June. Prior to opening her business, Legere worked as a family practice physician at Steiner Ranch Primary Care for five years.
Door to Door Med Spa offers a variety of anti-aging treatments as well as acne treatments, spider vein removal and weight loss assistance, all in the comfort of the patient’s home and with the flexibility to work around busy schedules.
“I thought this would be a novel approach to providing something patients would like to have but to provide it in their own home,” Legere said.
Her anti-aging treatments include dermal fillers, chemical peels, Botox, prescription retinoids, and Neova products. She also offers chemical peels, a non-surgical way to improve large pores, acne scars, fine wrinkles, sun damage, and skin discoloration and encourage the growth of natural collagen.
“Because I’m mobile and have low overhead, I keep my prices pretty competitive,” Legere said. “And you’re actually getting it done by a doctor. You get my experience at a reasonable cost.”
Another thing that makes her business unique is the ability to schedule appointments after-hours and on weekends.
“I’m very flexible, so if a patient prefers a weekend, or if a teenager has a more rigid schedule, I can do chemical peels or acne treatments after school,” she said.
Legere enjoys being able to spend more time with patients outside the typical clinic environment. As a former art history major, she said she also enjoys the more artistic side of aesthetic treatments.
“It combines my other interest with medicine, and allows me to spend more time with my patients and also more time as a parent,” she said.
Legere said her clients are primarily from the Four Points area, but she will travel up to 30 miles. She also sees patients in Westlake, Cedar Park and Lakeway.
Claudia’s husband is Dr. Henry Legere, a board certified allergist immunologist who started Greater Austin Allergy and Immunology PLLC several years ago with one location in Westlake. Now his practice has several locations including its office in the Medical Tower at Riverplace.
The Legeres have lived in Long Canyon since 2009. Prior to moving to Austin, they lived in Boston. Claudia is a native of Arizona and attended medical school at the University of California, Irvine.
