Hill Country Bible Church recently closed on the purchase of 32 acres of property northwest of the Vista Ridge at Steiner Ranch shopping center, off N. Quinlan Park Road.
According to Don Dumbacher, HCBC Steiner Ranch campus pastor, cost of the land was more than $2 million.
Five-and-a-half acres of the tract will accommodate a building and parking areas, with the remainder used for ball fields and other community needs. A construction start date has not been set.
HCBC at Steiner Ranch is one of three campuses that form Hill Country Bible Church Austin. The other two sites are Lakeline, located on RM 620 N, and Brushy Creek, currently housed at Walsh Middle School in Round Rock.
The Steiner Ranch congregation now meets at Laura Welch Bush Elementary School. Sunday services begin at 10:30 a.m., with attendance topping 370.
Events for middle school and high school students occur throughout the week under the direction of Josh Howard, student ministry pastor.
In addition to Dumbacher and Howard, HCBC Steiner Ranch staff members are Rhonda Fionda, children’s ministry director; Matt Jones, tech coordinator; Sandy Rigney, administrative coordinator; and Josh Tullis, worship pastor.
“Our mission,” Dumbacher said, “is to see practical things happen within our vision, which is for every man, woman, and child to experience the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ.”
It is a vision that requires community awareness and involvement. For this reason, HCBC intends to partner with Steiner Ranch residents for feedback on campus land use. “We want all HCBC space to be a blessing to the community and to be mutually beneficial. We believe in the value of a church being local,” Dumbacher said.
Currently, the church office is located at the Shops at Steiner Ranch, 2900 N. Quinlan Park Road. It includes two large multi-purpose rooms, which Dumbacher said are available for community meetings and activities.
