The Hill Country Education Foundation’s 5th annual Giddy Up Gala raised a record-breaking $140,000 and posted a record attendance on Feb. 28 as more than 475 guests made a difference for local Four Points students, schools and teachers.
“Our ability to boost academics with additional programs and tools is highly dependent on the funds raised at this gala,” said Kai Lamb, president.
“Each year the community comes out in larger and larger numbers, willing to step up their financial contributions. Because of their continued support and even stronger dedication to our cause, HCEF can intensify its efforts in making a difference for our students and their teachers who are passionate about enhancing education,” Lamb added.
As a result of the Giddy Up Gala’s success, HCEF will increase support of schools in Four Points through impact grants, scholarships, professional development, robotics grants, Naviance/ReadiStep and much more.
HCEF’s primary fundraiser featured raffles, silent and live auctions, and the Heads or Tails game. Vandegrift High School’s Fund-A-Need raised $22,200 — another record-breaker for the gala. Money raised at this year’s Fund-A-Need entitled “Expand the Reach of Excellence at VHS” will launch a new SAT curriculum for all VHS juniors, the highly successful PSAT Boot Camp. Funds will also be used in UIL academic competitions and teacher professional development.
HCEF has already released the date for next year’s event: Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 for the 6th annual Giddy Up Gala.
