Impending thunderstorms caused school officials to change the plans for Vandegrift’s annual spring football game and Viper Bites, canceling the food festival portion of the event and moving the football game up by an hour on Thursday.
The Legacies dance team, the VHS cheer squad and many fans were at the spring game as well.
The results of the Viper football team’s efforts over the last few weeks were a showcase of offensive and defensive potential that had coaches and fans looking forward to the start of football season in August.
“I’m so glad the weather held off and allowed us to get our game in,” said VHS coach Drew Sanders. “It was an excellent game and well-played by all. Thanks to all the fans that showed up.”

Glory Days football game
During the Vandegrift spring game last week, local Viper football dads took to the field as well and played the annual “Glory Days” flag football game. The game was fun for all, pitting the black team against the white.
