The Bhatt family hosted their annual fundraiser, Botox for Babes, and more than quadrupled earnings from last year to donate $20,841 to Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.
In 2015, the fundraiser earned $4,728 with 23 participating patients. This year’s impressive growth resulted from an increase in the number of patients to 42 and the addition of corporate sponsors and local business contributions, reported Dr. Roopal Bhatt, owner and dermatologist of Four Points Dermatology.
Bhatt and her husband, Kunjan, have put on the event since 2013 in appreciation for the care their daughter, Sapna, now 9, received at Dell Children’s after a near fatal auto/pedestrian accident in the family’s River Place neighborhood.
The couple’s son, Devan, now 7, as well as Roopal, were also severely injured in the accident. However, Sapna became critical and would have died if not for intervention by the medical staff.
“We do this to support Dell Children’s and in gratitude to the community for the lives of our children. Our family would have been annihilated if we lost our children. We hope to support other families with this money,” Roopal said.
At the June 11 Botox for Babes, pharmaceutical manufacturer, Allergan, donated Botox and patients receive injections from Roopal and her physician assistant in return for a donation to Dell Children’s.
The funds are designated for Dell Children’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, said Roopal.
In addition to individual patients, corporate and business donors to the 2016 event were Bartlett Real Estate, Erskine and Black, Little River Health Care, Dermatology Associates, Texas Oculoplastic Consultants, Kendra Scott Jewelry (Dell Children’s team), Physicians Resource Services, Lakeside Dental, River Place Country Club and Brytanee Eaton Beauty.
