The Vandegrift Theatre Department will perform the musical “Into the Woods” by Stephen Sondheim next week. Performances will be at the VHS Performing Arts Center Jan.18, 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. and also Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.

It is the directorial debut of VHS Theatre’s newest department head and director, Celeste Schneider, with technical direction by John Conner.

The show turns a number of fairy tales upside down and features familiar characters such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and, of course, the Prince.

Audiences may be familiar with the show from the 2014 film adaptation starring Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp and Anna Kendrick.

Tickets are $10 for youth/students, $15 for adults and free for children 2 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the door or on the VHS Theatre website, VHSTheatre.us.
