Texas Department of Transportation has two projects going on in Four Points right now that are impacting drivers.
TxDOT is restriping and adding delineators on RM 2222.
Plans call for the westbound lanes from approximately the Wells Fargo Bank building to RM 620 to be restriped starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 23. This will allow longer cue lines for drivers turning onto RM 620, improving mobility and enhancing safety, according to TxDOT.
In addition to the restriping, crews will also be installing flexible delineators on RM 2222, to discourage illegal left turns. This work is planned to start 10 p.m. on July 23 and be done throughout the night.
“By extending the cue lines, it will allow more drivers to make the signal. The delineators will also discourage drivers from making illegal left turns, preventing potential collisions and snarling traffic behind them. This should help improve traffic flow in the area,” said Diann Hodges, TxDOT spokesperson.
Lane closures will be required to perform the work and motorists should allow extra time to travel through this area, Hodges added.
“TxDOT asks that drivers be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone,” she said.
Also TxDOT crews are working through the night on repaving RM 620 from the Mansfield Dam to RM 2222, a 3.6-mile stretch. There are alternating lane closures from 8 p.m.- 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
This $1.48 million repaving project began July 15 and is expected to wrap up in late summer. It also includes the 1.7-mile section from Anderson Mill Road to US 183.
These projects are being done in advance of two projects that will add a bypass lane from RM 620 to RM 2222, and widen portions of RM 2222.
