VHS women’s chorale to sing nationally

The Vandegrift varsity women’s choir was chosen to sing at the American Choral Director’s Association national convention in March. The choir surrounds the school seal in the VHS entry. This is the picture that will be featured in the national choir publication called The Choral Journal.

The Vandegrift chorale women’s choir was recently selected to perform at the American Choral Director’s Association national convention in March of 2019. These Vipers will be one of only three high school choirs that were chosen from Texas this year.

“In short, this means that the VHS chorale women’s choir was selected as one of the nation’s top high school women’s choirs and will be traveling to Kansas City in March to perform for an audience of 3,000 choral directors, publishers, composers, and educators for across the entire country,” said Michael Zook, VHS choir director.

In order to gain this honor, choirs from around the nation submitted sample recordings of their ensembles from the most recent three years. Over 285 choirs were submitted in this process and 25 were chosen to perform at the 2019 convention.

“This is a tremendous honor for any choir and VHS represents the first choir ever to be chosen from Leander ISD,” Zook said.
