Smash & grab cases

On Oct. 9, Lakeside Pizza & Grill in Steiner Ranch and Hunan Riverplace Restaurant in River Place were both broken into.
“It sucks,” said Chip Von Nostrand, general manager of Lakeside. “It’s an inconvenience more than anything,.”
Lakeside is located at 2900 N Quinlan Park Rd. between Cups & Cones and Steiner Cleaners, both which were broken into on Aug. 26 and the cleaners again on Sept. 3.
“It obviously appears to be the same guy,” Von Nostrand said. “He didn’t get anything. Smashed the side door in.”
Von Nostrand shared pictures with the police. The burglar was wearing a hoodie,
Mask and gloves.
The door was fixed right away and Von Nostrand has been working with detectives throughout the week on the case.
Hunan Riverplace Restaurant, located at 10601 RM 2222, also reported a burglary on Oct. 9.
“They took money from the register,” said staffer Justin Reed. They have surveillance but when they called they were told there was a “glitch” in the system.
The fast casual restaurant featuring Korean and Chinese food was closed for about an hour while the smashed door was fixed.
It is not clear at this point if these two restaurants were burglarized by the same individual in custody, who allegedly committed break-ins in Steiner Ranch in late August and early September. (See related story on page 1.)
