The Vandegrift girls golf team advanced to the UIL 6A State Golf Tournament May 13 -14 at the Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown.
Tee times started at 8 a.m. with Hailey Derrickson and subsequently hit every 10 minutes after with Abby Zoller, Kaylee Vesely, Nicole Vivier and Jensen Jalufka.
The team posted an opening round of 314 and bounced back with a strong final round of 298, ending the tournament in 7th place.
“It was nice getting back to the state tournament and I’m proud of how well the girls finished off the tournament,” said Matt Wernecke, VHS head golf coach.
Individual scores at state were: Jalufka 79-2, Vivier 78-73, Derrickson 77-75, Zoller 78-78, and Vesely 86-80.
“It was a solid season and the team accomplished some nice things throughout the year,” Wernecke said.
