A fire that engulfed a vacant trailer at 7013-7045 River Place Blvd., Austin, has been slowed but there is no word from fire officials as to whether or not the blaze has been extinguished.

At around 4:45 p.m., Austin Fire Department received a report of smoke in the vicinity and sent one engine to investigate. When officers witnessed the smoke column, the fire was upgraded to a “light box alarm” and subsequently to a “full box alarm.”

The trailer was deemed a “total loss,” said Braden Frame with the Lake Travis Fire Fighters Association. Lake Travis Fire Rescue employed half of its force—including two of the four fire engines on the scene, one of the two fire trucks on the scene and one of the three command units on the scene— to the fire pursuant to an Automatic Aid Agreement with the city of Austin, he said.

The first units arriving to the scene reported the trailer size to be about 3,000 square feet, Frame said.

At around 5:23 p.m. this evening, LTFR firefighters reported the fire as “knocked down,” or slowed, but not growing, he said.
