A man died in a fatal accident on Wednesday, Oct. 21 on RM 620 near Mansfield Dam.
At approximately 3:10 p.m. near 4221 N. RM 620., Austin-Travis County EMS said it responded to the crash after getting initial reports indicating that an adult was pinned in their vehicle and there were multiple vehicles involved. One of the vehicles was an H-E-B semi-trailer truck.
Lake Travis Fire Rescue reported that after the extensive resuscitative efforts on the scene by medics of Austin – Travis County EMS, LTFR and StarFlight, they obtained a “deceased on scene” pronouncement, according to ATCEMS.
Travis County Sheriff’s confirmed with a tweet that “One dead after multiple vehicle accident on RM 620 near Mansfield Dam.”
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers also responded to the fatal crash on RM 620. They are the lead agency involved.
“Preliminary reports indicate that a Chevrolet Suburban travelled across the center line and crashed into a truck tractor towing a semi-trailer,” according to Deon Cockrell, sergeant with Texas Department of Public Safety.
“As a result of the crash, one male has been pronounced deceased,” Cockrell said.
The crash is currently under investigation.
Alicia Keenan Williams reported on the 620/71 Traffic & Accident Report site that when the 18-wheeler hit the white SUV it was “full speed, no brakes. My house is just above the scene. It shook my windows like an explosion. The whole top of the SUV was smashed and the front driver side was nearly gone.”
As of 5:20 p.m. Travis County Sheriff’s tweeted that “One lane of FM 620 is open in each direction. Expect delays.”
