The Vandegrift band and Vision Dance Company’s annual mulch fundraiser was a huge success even in the current pandemic climate.
Students, parents and band staff worked together to load, haul, and deliver 27,000 bags of mulch April 9-10. Beautiful weather aided the process. Volunteers worked both at Canyon Ridge Middle School and Vandegrift High School, picking up bags of mulch in vehicles and delivering to homes surrounding the school zones.
“It was so awesome to see our band community come together to deliver 27,000 bags of mulch!! Fantastic work by the mulch and fundraising teams,” stated Mike Howard, director of bands.
Proceeds from the mulch sale support all aspects of the award-winning band program including competitions, music clinics and contests, travel, and equipment.
“Thanks for your hard work from start to finish. We appreciate all aspects of this endeavor and no job was unimportant. Your time, dedication and positive attitudes made (it all) possible… together we can literally move mountains (of mulch),” Band Booster President Karen Norrod told the booster club. “Family, we did it! Mulch 2021 is a wrap!”
