A winning season is well underway for Vandegrift cross country as the teams finished the Georgetown Invitational on Oct. 3 at Eastview High School.
Leander Relays kicked off the season on August 20 followed by the Southlake Carroll and FEAST invites and then succeeded by Cedar Park, Hays, Woodbridge and McNeil invitationals.
“We’ve been pleased with our season so far, as we’ve placed in the top teams each weekend,” said Sue King, assistant VHS cross country coach.
The Vipers recently competed with its top 14 runners at a national level in the Woodbridge Invitational in California.
“Out of over 300 schools, our girls placed 8th and our boys placed 15th. Kevin Sanchez placed 5th out of 2,000+ runners at this meet,” King said.
District is Oct. 14, regionals is Oct. 25, and state is Dec. 6.
