The Vandegrift volleyball team made it to the regional finals on November 13, going farther than any other 6A volleyball team at VHS, and believed to be the farthest Austin team in 6A. But San Antonio’s Brandeis (45-2) beat VHS at the Alamo Convocation Center 3-0 to end the Lady Vipers season at 39-10.
The season got off to a rocky start and momentum seemed to stall with a loss to Lake Travis and then to Round Rock at the beginning of district play. But then a 17 game win streak changed everything.
Coach Melissa Southall attributes the Lady Viper success to “resilience, hard work, and motivation to do something historical.”
