Steiner Ranch Elementary 5th graders in Molly Williams’ class launched a school newspaper. The 10 and 11-year-old Stallion students started from scratch. They did not know how article ideas were generated, the different ways articles are written, the layout of the newspaper, etc. They had a budget of about $50 and published their first edition.
“They learned so much about teamwork and how hard it was to produce content,” said Williams, who tried to just guide them and not directly tell them what to include.
“It was a long journey,” Williams said, and after many months, “we finally produced it.”
