Grandview Hills Elementary hosted Spring Fling two months ago, after pausing the annual event over COVID. Here is a sampling of quotes gathered by Abby Lincks during the April 22 event.

Patricia Robertson (retired teacher) “We are very grateful to the National Honor Society at Four Points and PALS from Vandegrift that came to help us and we’re very appreciative of their volunteerism. A bunch of them came out.”

Laura Engstrom: (PTA member and volunteer) “This is the first time in three years that Grandview Elementary has hosted Spring Fling and there was a record turnout.”

Meghan Arrington (PTA president from 2020-2022) “I’m very grateful to be a part of this wonderful community at Grandview Hills elementary school and I just love all the kiddos and teachers and family and friends.”

Audrey Merchant (volunteer) “I’m volunteering in the petting zoo. I think it’s a lot of fun because there’s a lot of different animals in here and I like to see the kids’ smiles on their faces.”

Su Franklin (parent) “It’s really exciting, the kids are loving it. It’s really family friendly.”

Sofia Ramirez (PAL volunteer) shares about the cakewalk. “We’ve had constant traffic. We’re trying to make everyone dance and it’s pretty lively and who doesn’t want cake?”

-“Go Grandview Hills Eagles!”

Jenny Buttweiler (volunteer and parent) “We haven’t had the ability to have it [Spring Fling] for the last couple years for COVID, so it’s great to have all the kids back together and the comradery, the fund raising, all the aspects of being able to do this and pull it off in-person is great.”

Zoe Nichols (PAL volunteer from VHS) “I’d say the Spring Fling is a super fun and exciting event with a lot of variety and games and it’s been really fun working with PALS at different events like this and getting to help out with the community and especially the little ones. So, that’s been really fun.”

Nevaeh Lowe (Vandegrift PALS volunteer) “I think it’s been a really amazing experience working with kids and just helping them better themselves and it has also helped better me with getting to experience new relationships with friends and students at my school and students at the elementary schools and helping them better their skills.”

Micah Lowe (GHE student) “I’ve been playing gaga ball with my friends. I did the cakewalk. Me and my friends just played on the playground, it’s a lot of fun. And my friend bought me and my other friends some colored ice and we’ve just been playing on the bouncy houses and stuff. This is awesome.”
