John Norden Jr., a Steiner Ranch resident and technology executive, died in a motorcycle accident on June 11.
He was buried with military honors this week on June 21 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen following a wake from 9 a.m. to noon at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home in Austin.
Norden, 47, was senior director of infrastructure at Raptor Technologies LLC and an avid motorcyclist.
On June 11, Austin Police Department responded to the 900 block of S Capital of Texas Highway around 8:22 p.m. APD says a high rate of speed was likely what caused Norden to lose control in the northbound lane. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and he died at the scene.
Norden served in the Army from 1993 to 1998 and had a master’s degree in cyber security from the University of Maryland.
Members of the Patriot Guard and Crusaders Union provided a motorcycle escort for the procession from the funeral home to the cemetery.
Norden, a devoted family man, is survived by his wife Hahn; his son Shane, 18; daughter Cate, 16; his sisters Christina Kellison and Carol Kellison; his brother Louie Norden; and numerous nieces and nephews, all from Missouri.
