The YMCA of Austin hosted YAY Fest on Saturday at its newest location – the new Four Points YMCA at the Trails at 620 shopping center.

During the Four Points Y’s first community event, attendees enjoyed Halloween photos, a costume contest, pumpkin decorating and games plus free food and drinks from Top Taco and Kona Ice.

More than 300 Four Points neighbors of all ages turned out to meet the Y team and offer their feedback on the design and programming of the new facility, which is slated to open in 2024.

Each YMCA center is designed to reflect the unique character of the community it serves. Officials invite the community to “dream with us”. They shared some of the feedback they heard during YAY Fest.

There is a strong desire for a community gathering space, a place for residents from the various Four Points neighborhoods to be able to come together, whether for recreation or just socializing and actually building a community.

The interest among families with kids is strong and Y officials also heard a strong voice from older adults who are looking for programming and engagement opportunities.
