Visionary is the annual dance concert presented by the Vandegrift Vision Dance Co. Sixty five dancers performed 12 visual works of art in a variety of styles including modern, jazz, and contemporary for the public on March 30 and 31.
“Visionary 2023 was a huge success thanks to the time and effort put in by so many Vision parents and supporters, as well as the dancers,” said Katie Hopkins, Vision director. “We are so proud of the dancers’ hard-work, dedication and professionalism. It was a wonderful celebration of dance by the Vision Dance Company.”
The event began in the spring of 2019, and extended Vision’s season to include stage performance that is primarily rooted in contemporary and modern dance styles. Once the marching season concludes in the fall, Vision begins learning concert works to present in their spring concert. Professional choreographers throughout Austin and the United States are hired to create a variety of dance pieces for this event, along with Hopkins.
“Hopkins, who has done a tremendous job enhancing the artistry and pre-professionalism of the event, gives students an artistic stage experience that includes a professional setting, video works, and stage lighting,” shared Holly Lyons, VHS dance educator.
