The Vandegrift Legacies Dance team had a phenomenal 2024-2025 competition season. Setting the stage, the Legacies dazzled the audience and judges with flawless high kicks and precision dance moves.
Their first competition earned the title of Grand Champions at the Ascension Dance Competition’s Central Austin Challenge. The following weekend, the inclement weather and delayed starting times for the Crowd Pleasers Dance Showcase regional competition didn’t deter the Legacies. As a team the girls earned second place overall while the officer’s overall rankings earned first place. For their final competition of the season, the dancers returned to the Ascension Dance Nationals in San Marcos. Once again the Legacies didn’t disappoint, and danced with “Passion, Persistence, and Pride,” and they secured the title of National Grand Champions, upholding the Vandegrift High School motto “Second to None!”
The Legacies Dance Team is led by Directors Holly Lyons and Alexa Olson. Their combined leadership and dedication have encouraged the dancers throughout this school year and competition season, resulting in multiple awards for team dances, specialty dance groups, officer’s dances, and solos and duets.
This spring, the Legacies will be performing their annual show, “Vanguard” at Vandegrift High School on April 24, 25 and 26 at the VHS Performing Arts Center. This year’s theme is titled “Dreamscape” and will showcase performances from the Legacies competition season, with additional dances from the VHS Vision Dance Company, Viper Dance Department, Four Points Middle School, and Canyon Ridge Middle School dance teams. The public is invited to attend and support the dance community. Tickets will go on sale on April 1 at VHSLegacies.org.
