Attorney work changes under pandemic

Attorney Tom Gehring saw a 25 percent drop in new cases in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Texas courts tried over 9,000 criminal and civil cases in 2019 but only 239 cases in 2020.

UPDATE: Charges are dropped on both teens who were arrested for the downtown Austin shooting that resulted in the death of a tourist and 13 injured

UPDATED June 22

On June 22 authorities dropped charges against two teenagers who Austin Police Department said were involved in a fight that led to the Sixth Street mass shooting on June 12. APD is now looking for a new suspect: De’ondre Jermirris White, 19, who investigators believe is responsible for the shooting death of Douglas Kantor, 25, as well as the shooting injuries of 13 others.
