Route B to be recommended as an emergency-only, gated route in Steiner

Travis County staff has shifted gears and on July 3 said they will now recommend route B instead of route F as the preferred emergency only, gated route for Steiner Ranch.

The Travis County Transportation & Natural Resources department has changed its preference of an evacuation route out of Steiner Ranch. On Wednesday, July 3, TNR announced first to Four Points News that it has decided to move forward with recommending route B instead of route F as a gated, emergency only road off of Flat Top Ranch Road.

July 4th parades bring families together in Four Points

Families gathered to show American pride at the annual July 4th parades in Four Points. Residents in River Place, Steiner Ranch, Grandview and other communities decked out in the red, white and blue to show patriotism. Many children decorated bikes, wagons, strollers, golf carts and the family pet for Independence events.

Route B to be recommended as an emergency, gated evacuation route in Steiner

The Travis County Transportation & Natural Resources department has changed its preference of an emergency route out of Steiner Ranch. On Wednesday, July 3, TNR announced first to Four Points News that it has decided to move forward with recommending route B instead of route F as a gated, emergency only road off of Flat Top Ranch Road in Steiner Ranch.

The team that has been working on an evacuation route out of Steiner Ranch met earlier this year to show Four Points News reasons behind their route choices. On July 3, they changed from recommending route F to route B. L-R David Greear, assistant public works director in the engineering division at Travis County – Transportation and Natural Resources, Kathy Hardin, an engineer with Travis County Transportation & Natural Resources Capital Improvement Projects, and ​Steven Widacki, engineer from M&S Engineering, LLC.

Travis County announced on July 3 that it will now recommend route B as the preferred emergency only, gated route for Steiner Ranch.

“TNR recommends, that because of current funding restrictions, route B is now the preferred route as a gated only, emergency route,” said Kathy Hardin, an engineer with Travis County Transportation & Natural Resources Capital Improvement Projects.

TxDOT updates $36.2 million, 2222/620 projects at SRNA meeting Expecting fall 2020 finish on widening & bypass

Texas Department of Transportation officials gave updates this week on the RM 2222 widening project and the bypass project that will connect RM 620 with RM 2222. The two projects — totalling $36.2 million — are expected to be complete by fall 2020.  

“It is progressing well with an anticipated October 2020 completion,” said Victor Vargas, area engineer with TxDOT. He addressed some 20 attendees of the Steiner Ranch Neighborhood Association meeting held at Towne Square Community Center on June 25.  

Area residents asked questions and looked over maps on the two TxDOT projects that will help alleviate traffic congestion in Four Points.
