Trunk-or-Treat ushers in Halloween

Everything but the kitchen sink! Their costumes my be wildly different, but these trick or treaters all came to the annual Steiner Ranch Trunk or Treat event for the same reason: free candy! Skeletons, super heros, hot dogs, princesses, puppy dogs and warriors were just a few of the characters attending Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday in Steiner Ranch. Local businesses, Girl Scout troops, nonprofits and churches loaded their trunks full of treats and handed out candy and other goodies to the hundreds of  participants. The festivities, hosted by the Steiner Ranch HOA, also included face painting, balloon animals, train rides and bounce houses.

VHS band, Vision, choir earn UIL Division 1

Vandegrift band, Vision Dance Co. and choir earn a first division rating from all three judges at the UIL Region Marching Contest Oct. 21 at John Gupton Stadium in Cedar Park.

This is the 9th consecutive 1st division rating for the VHS marching band.

Understanding the $454.4 million LISD 2017 Bond Bond projects to address growth of district

Early voting has begun and Leander ISD voters will decide to either enact or oppose a $454.4 million bond proposal that would construct four new schools, improve safety of facilities and accommodate for projected growth in the district.

LISD’s Board of Trustees called for the election at their Aug. 17 meeting, which will take place Nov. 7. Early Voting started Monday and runs through Friday, Nov. 3. For more information on when and how to vote, visit VoteTexas.gov. Continue reading

Steiner ED led the transition from developer to homeowner community

Randy Schmaltz has been the executive director of Steiner Ranch since 2015 and has led the community through the transition of the developer-run community to a resident-run community.

There have been many areas to address during this transition from Taylor Morrison to the homeowners, and Schmaltz has overseen several initiatives including: expanded insurance coverage, upgraded pool maintenance, two in-depth audit reviews, updated website, obtaining tax exempt status for the association, a new performance-based landscape contract, and the addition of family-friendly events.

TxDOT hosts RM 620/RM 2222 community meeting Thurs. at Vandegrift

The environmental assessment is the remaining requirement for the $18 million RM 620/RM 2222 bypass road improvement project to go forward. Part of the environmental assessment is a public hearing and the Texas Department of Transportation is conducting a public hearing on Thursday, Oct. 26 at Vandegrift.

The community meeting will begin with an open house from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 9500 McNeil Dr. 78750. During this time, the public will be able to review available project information and exhibits, discuss the project with project staff, and ask questions. The formal presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a public comment period.\ Continue reading
