A Vandegrift entrepreneur team is literally thinking outside of the box as it launches its new company Bamboo Boxes to foster creativity in children.
Bamboo Boxes are monthly subscriptions that come with five themed activities that foster a child’s creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
The minor Keys, a music duo from the Four Points area, was selected to play a two-hour set at the White House on Dec. 3.
Joey Painter, piano, and Anna Zavelson, vocals, are both sophomores at Vandegrift High School. Anna and her parents, Tracy and David Zavelson, live in Grandview Hills. Joey and his parents, Melinda and Jay Painter, in River Place.
Former SAS site off Wilson Parke to host exhibits, educational programs

Last month, Travis County purchased the former SAS Institute property located off RM 620 at Wilson Parke Avenue, with plans for the grounds to serve the public.
According to Public Information Officer Hector Nieto, part of the tract’s existing 3-story office building will be transformed into a Visitor Center for the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, or BCP, which is partly managed by Travis County.
