2017 Four Points home sales down, prices up

The number of homes sold in the Four Points area — including Steiner Ranch, River Place, Grandview Hills and Comanche Trails — were down 3 percent in 2017 but sale prices increased per square foot.  

There were 408 homes sold in 2017, down from 421 homes sold in 2016 in Four Points, “continuing a six-year trend of reduced unit sales,” said Tom Radack, owner Bartlett Real Estate, Keller Williams Realty.

However, the median price increased to $525,250, or $165 per square foot, continuing the trend of previous years,” Radack said. Last year, the median price was closer to $492,500 or $160 per square foot.

Winter storm leaves some local residents without heat

Some propane customers in Four Points felt the sting of 18-degree air temperature recorded in the Austin area Jan. 17, as reported by the National Weather Service, and were without heat during the near record-setting cold snap.

Numerous Four Points-area propane providers—including nearby Sharp Propane, 4711 Doss Rd. and Absolute Propane, 15100 Debba Dr. — reported their Will Call customers were requesting emergency deliveries of the fuel.

Vandegrift soccer teams get chilly start to season

The soccer season is fully underway, and the Lady Vipers finished last week with back-to-back wins over Plano West and Schertz Clemens to improve to 2-3-1 on the season.

The boys started their schedule with a series of losses in tournament play, going 1-6 in their first seven outings, with a 2-1 victory over Aldine Davis back on Jan. 5.

The Vipers dropped contests against Coppell (4-0) and Flower Mound Marcus (4-0) last weekend and will host Westwood on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
