Trunk or Treating brings together costumes and candy

A couple of Trunk or Treat events on Sunday brought the community together in memorable ways. The Steiner Ranch Homeowners Association hosted its annual spook-tacular event at Towne Square community center and this year a pumpkin patch with more than 300 free pumpkins was added. Austin Baptist Church also hosted its annual event with pony rides, inflatables and tons of candy and games.

Fatal car crash early Sunday 620 at Steiner

A man died after a head-on collision in the early morning hours of Oct. 27 on RM 620 near the entrance of Steiner Ranch, said Robbie Barrera, a Sergeant with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

“A 2013 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on RM 620 when the driver veered into southbound traffic striking a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu head-on,” Barrera said.

Inventory down, price per square foot up in local real estate

In the first nine months of 2019, homes sales in Four Points were down 10 percent from 327 to 294. The median sales price was down 6.5 percent to $538,000 compared to the same time frame in 2018. The price per square foot, however, increased 2.9 percent to $177 up from $172 last year, according to Austin Board of Realtors data.

Tensions rise quickly over Gearing’s recommendation to remove Goal 1 from District Improvement Plan

Leander Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Bruce Gearing launched an early test of his relationship with trustees.

Thursday, Oct. 17 night, he recommended throwing out Goal 1 of the District Improvement Plan.  Some board members, however, disagreed with the recommendation, and tensions rose quickly throughout the discussion.
