Mother Nature couldn’t slow down Vandegrift, even if it allowed Drew Sanders to have his post-game meal a little early.
The Vipers outlasted a two-hour weather delay to beat Hendrickson 29-20 on Friday night thanks to a suffocating defense that forced five turnovers and solid kicker in Tim Barney, who hit a 26-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Friday Night at Viper’s Monroe Memorial
The heavy rains in the late afternoon on Friday did not deter the dedicated Viper fans from coming out in droves to Vandegrift’s Ed W. Monroe Memorial Stadium for football and performances by band, dance and cheer. The student section came decked out for the stars and stripes theme, and hundreds of 8th graders from Canyon Ridge and Four Points middle schools joined VHS students on the field for band, dance and cheer entertainment. The football game went into overtime with the Vipers beating Cedar Ridge by a field goal kick, 17-14 with just over a minute left to play.

Local couple builds drop-in daycare by Dr. Beemer
By LESLEE BASSMAN , Four Points News
For California transplant Ketti Prout, having flexible childcare was essential in an area where she and husband Jeff Prout were without family. However, the young mother of two children was unable to find a program to meet her needs in the Four Points area so she and Jeff are creating a new environment for drop-in childcare.
Austin Kids Retreat, 6111 N. RM 620, Bldg. B, Austin, is slated to open at the end of October in a standalone structure between Southstar Bank and Dr. Beemer, adjacent to Steiner Ranch.
The daycare center, open seven days a week, will offer drop-in child care for children ages 8 weeks-12 years old as well as full-time care, Ketti said.
