Viper football selects Meadows for “Change Our School” award

Math teacher Mike Meadows came out of his classroom expecting to speak with head athletic director Drew Sanders about some of his athletes. Little did Meadows know he would be greeted in the hall by a cheering Vandegrift football team there to give him the “Change Our School” award.

The football leadership council and coaches give the award out in late October to a chosen teacher who exemplifies great qualities and truly makes the school a better place.

Jean Smith, longtime resident of Grandview Hills, gathers with her friends each year to make a traditional holiday food lefse. This year marks their 30th anniversary to make the paper-thin potato bread in assembly-line fashion.

“We started this 30 years ago as a group,” said Smith, who is originally from Minnesota.

H-E-B offers new way to shop after nearly 20 years

As the Four Points H-E-B is a few months away from celebrating 20 years in business, it now introduces Curbside shopping.

“We are excited to expand our Curbside and delivery services to the Four Points H-E-B and provide customers with another convenient way to shop,” said Gary Hestand, director of Four Points H-E-B, located at the intersection of RM 620 and RM 2222.

H-E-B- uses the slogan “We shop. You relax!” with is new local offering that was launched in 2015 at some of its 150 Curbside locations.

LISD school board weighs in on naming honors

Leander ISD’s newest middle school will be named for longtime Cedar Park High School teacher and dance instructor Stacy Danielson after a unanimous vote of the district’s board of trustees on Dec. 13.

Danielson spent her entire 17-year teaching career at Cedar Park High School and passed away over the summer after a two-year battle with cancer.

The board’s 6-0 vote to name the district’s ninth middle school after Danielson came after four people spoke publicly in support of Danielson being chosen as the school’s namesake. A total of seven names were under consideration.
