Anthony Monte was feeling under the weather in each of his last two trips to the state cross country meet.
Last Saturday, he was feeling fine and running fast.
The Vandegrift senior set a new personal and school record in his third and final state cross country meet on Nov. 9 in the afternoon at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, finishing second in the state with a time of 14:39.59.

Even if the Vandegrift sideline was feeling uneasy after three quarters on Friday night, head coach Drew Sanders never lost faith.
The Vipers scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and rallied to beat Bridgeland 14-13 at Monroe Stadium in the bi-district round of the playoffs, their eighth straight win in the opening round of the playoffs.

The 10-0 Vandegrift Viper football team beat the 8-2 Bridgeland Bears team from Cypress, Tex. 14-13 at Ed W. Monroe Memorial Stadium on Nov. 15 in the 6A Division II Bi-District playoff game.
