Tensions rise quickly over Gearing’s recommendation to remove Goal 1 from District Improvement Plan

Leander Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Bruce Gearing launched an early test of his relationship with trustees.

Thursday, Oct. 17 night, he recommended throwing out Goal 1 of the District Improvement Plan.  Some board members, however, disagreed with the recommendation, and tensions rose quickly throughout the discussion.

Former 3M site set for foreclosure sale again

The latest foreclosure sale for the former 3M site at 6801 River Place Blvd. is set for Nov. 5. The original foreclosure sale was cancelled a few weeks ago for the property, which includes 11 buildings and a power plant on 156 acres. The site was renamed Silicon Hills Campus LLC by World Class Holdings, which was raided by the FBI on August 14.

Community enjoys 2019 Vandegrift Homecoming Parade

The 2019 Vandegrift Homecoming Parade brought together numerous organizations and hundreds of spectators on Oct. 16 at VHS. The annual event featured the homecoming court, football, band, Legacies, Vision Dance Co, robotics, theatre, swim and dive, lacrosse, athletic trainers, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, cross country, cheer, FFA, Four Points Pop Warner football and cheer, Destination Imagination, Viper Nation Academic Boosters, and more.
