LISD Trustees, Superintendent find common ground

2020-21 calendar, new courses  approved at board meeting

The Leander Independent School District Board of Trustees approved new course proposals, adopted the academic calendar for the 2020–21 school year, talked budget, and received a construction update at the Dec. 12 board meeting.  

Also the LISD board and Superintendent Bruce Gearing are finding some common ground when it comes to their collaborative effort to redefine performance objectives for Goals 1-7 of the District Improvement Plan that was approved at a prior meeting in November.

Four Vandegrift students perform in Macy’s Parade in NYC

They heard the audience as they walked along 8th Ave next to Central Park. This was the biggest audience they had ever performed in front of. Millions of people were watching and this was an opportunity of a lifetime. 

After getting hand-picked from a group of competitors, several dancers performed during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Nov. 28 in New York City as a part of a Spirit of America Production.

“It was really exciting,” freshman Audrey Brink said. “It was a new experience. Something I’ve never done before. Just getting to dance on the green mat that The Rockettes and other famous [dancers] were on before was cool.”
