River Place mulls non-members trail fee, Limited District passes first tax rate, HOA lowers dues for FY 2018-19

River Place Limited District board members discussed the idea to charge admission for those who are not residents but who want to use the popular River Place Nature Trail. That was one of the key topics at the Sept. 25 board meeting where also the entity’s first tax rate was passed and community projects were lined out.
The district was created December 2017, when the city of Austin annexed the River Place neighborhood, making its first fiscal period about nine-and-a-half months — from Dec. 15 until Sept. 30.
UT Golf votes to form its own association

The University of Texas Golf Club community in Steiner Ranch is taking steps to create its own association and separate from being controlled by the Steiner Ranch Master Association.
“SRMA is in charge of approving if we can spend our own money,” said Linda Messer, a member of the UTGC steering committee. “We’re interested in making sure things are going right and making things better.”
The goal of the community of nearly 520 homes is to start business on Jan. 1. There was a vote taken in September where a majority of the homeowners who voted want the change.
Viper volleyball in 3-way tie for first

The Vandegrift varsity volleyball team pulled out a thrilling victory against Vista Ridge on Friday night at home putting the Lady Vipers in a three-way tie in district standings with VRHS and Round Rock. The team is 7-2 in district while VRHS and RRHS are 8-2, since VHS had a first-round bye.
Viper “Pink Out” helps in fight against breast cancer
The Vandegrift community showed school spirit with a cause at the 2018 “Pink Out” on Friday night at VHS. The Vipers came up with the wins in both the varsity volleyball and football games versus Vista Ridge HS and stands were filled with enthusiastic fans wearing pink, the signature color of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Funds were raised for research by the American Cancer Society. Student fans in many organizations including volleyball, football, cheer, dance and athletic training all wore the signature pink color in support of the cause.
