Not long before summer vacation began, Susan Sullivan announced her retirement as Canyon Ridge Middle School principal. Her 14-year tenure at the helm of CRMS in Steiner Ranch touched the lives of thousands and thousands of local students and their families. For the first time in many years, Sullivan is not preparing for the new school year and has handed that torch off to the new principal. But as a resident of Steiner, she’ll still be around and continue to be part of the local community.
Steiner Ranch will be home to the fourth Galaxy Cafe like this one in South Austin at 9911 Brodie Lane.

Although Four Points residents will have to wait about seven months for its opening, Galaxy Cafe co-founder and co-owner Jay Bunda is banking on the eatery being worth the wait.
The Austin-based institution is set to open mid-February in the Quinlan Crossing Shopping Center at 5145 RM 620, Building C, Austin, the former site of Zack’s American Bistro that closed March 9.
Bunda said he is partnering with Chris Courtney for the fourth location of the casual eatery that has sites on West Lynn and in Northwest Hills and South Austin. The Steiner Ranch location will replace Galaxy Cafe’s site in the Triangle area of Austin that closed April 15.

depend on where the cart is operated

On a recent Monday afternoon, long-time River Place resident Gary Chapel said he was driving down Treasure Island Drive when he came around a curve to suddenly find a golf cart being operated by a teen boy with two other children on board. The vehicle was driving on the wrong side of the road, he said.
“He clearly wasn’t paying attention,” Chapel said of the golf cart driver he thought was not yet 16 years old. “So I had to brake and then I started flashing my lights. Then, he swerved over to the proper side of the road.”
