Vandegrift shuts out Cedar Park for second straight win in series

The Vandegrift Vipers are the Austin American-Statesman’s football team of the week this week after VHS shut out the Timberwolves 17-0 in the first game of the season at Monroe Stadium on Aug. 30.

Drew Sanders has been on the sidelines for every step of the rivalry between Vandegrift and Cedar Park. He remembers getting beat by quite a bit, time and time again.

Riverbend Church marks 40 years with celebration

Easter 1998, first Sunday in new building Home for Hope.

Riverbend Church pulled out all the stops for its 40th Anniversary on Aug. 25. The celebration highlighted the storied history and accomplishments of a church that has helped transform thousands of lives spiritually, emotionally, and practically – here in Austin and all around the world. 

The campus-wide party saw thousands of long-time and more recent attendees, and hundreds of new-to-Austin individuals and families – including some of this city’s greatest influencers.

Many players for Cedar Park and Vandegrift have been facing off against each other since the sixth grade. 

The Timberwolves and Vipers get the regular season started Friday night at 7 p.m. at Monroe Stadium.

2019 Viper March-A-Thon raises $75,000+

The Vandegrift band and Vision Dance Company marched for more than three miles during its 11th annual March-A-Thon through the streets of Steiner Ranch on Saturday.

“The band is still raising money through an online pledge campaign, but thus far the band raised almost $75,000 with this year’s March-a-Thon,” said Mike Howard, VHS director of bands, which comprise of 392 students this year.
