Montview speaks out about route B

A dozen or so residents of Montview came to this month’s Steiner Ranch Neighborhood Association meeting to voice concerns and frustrations over the evacuation-only, gated route B that Travis County chose to build in July.

Local students, schools continue to excel on state accountability

Leander ISD maintained a 95 percent overall score, according to Texas Education Agency accountability ratings released Aug. 15.

Thirty-three schools earned A or B grades and the district attained 41 Distinction Designations during the state’s first year releasing letter grades for schools.

VHS cheer earns top honors at NCA Camp

Vandegrift cheerleaders, under the direction of head coach Brianna Roughton and coach Rachel Hoyle, came home with several team and individual awards from the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) camp held Aug. 4-7 in Galveston, Tex. 

The Vandegrift Cheer program received the prestigious Herkie Award, voted on by the NCA staff and given to the top all-around program at camp that exemplifies unity, spirit and leadership. Approximately 30 other cheer teams comprised of over 600 cheerleaders from throughout the state competed at the camp.
