Local developer creating iSports complex in Cedar Park

Local developer Eric Perardi is creating a state-of-the-art complex called iSports Cedar Park which will be an indoor/outdoor sports complex featuring two hockey rinks and two turf fields.

Construction on a new 206,000-square-foot multi-sport complex in Cedar Park officially got underway May 23. City officials and athletes gathered near the construction site at U.S. 183A and Scottsdale Drive for a groundbreaking ceremony.

Doing the right thing with an Apple watch found in Lake Austin

Brandon Stelling, incoming senior up at Vandegrift, lost his Apple watch and Briland Young, incoming Canyon Ridge 6th grader, found it more than three weeks later at the bottom of Lake Austin.

While boating about a month ago, Briland Young was diving with his mask and discovered an algae-covered Apple watch at the bottom of Lake Austin, about 12 feet below the surface.

Although it looked old at first, they discovered it was a newer model that was water submersible.

Cinema powerhouse acquires locally founded Moviehouse & Eatery

The locally-founded Moviehouse & Eatery company was acquired July 26 by Cinepolis, the second largest cinema operator worldwide. Including the local theater at Trails at 620 and five other Moviehouse & Eatery theaters in Texas, Cinepolis now owns 26 movie theaters in seven states within the U.S. and 738 movie theaters in 17 countries.

Co-owned by Four Points residents Rodney and Tiffany Speaks and Leslie Sloan, the local Moviehouse site was originally tagged ‘Galaxy Moviehouse & Eatery” and was the first build of the innovative deluxe theater and dining enterprise. It opened at 8300 N. RM 620 on Nov. 9, 2012, and owers reflect now that the whole concept was taking a leap of faith.

“(The sale) allows Moviehouse to really expand outside of Texas,” Speaks told Four Points News. “We think we created an amazing concept that people all over the U.S. and the world can enjoy. Cinepolis allowed that to happen.”

New homes slated near Steiner Ranch Lake Club, Recreational site not sold

By consent agenda and unanimous vote, the city of Austin’s Zoning and Platting Commission approved a resubdivision of the Steiner Ranch Lake Club, 12300 River Bend, Austin, on June 18 that paves the way for residential development on one of two lots comprising 5.22 total acres. The property falls within Austin’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, an area whose residents don’t pay city taxes but also aren’t serviced by the city.

Behind the action is the Steiner Ranch Master Association along with Steiner Ranch, Ltd., Taylor Woodrow Communities and 239 Rio Vista, entities that filed the resubdivision application, agenda documents state.
